What a Design Project Actually Does

A design project is what creates comfort and coziness in your home, adapting it specifically to your needs and taste. It's what distinguishes your home from thousands of others - something you interact with every single day. Is it worth investing in? That's ultimately your call, but here's why people pay for it.

Stage One: Layout Solution

This is where we reorganize the overall space around your needs - placing rooms, doorways, furniture, and fixtures with your specific requirements in mind. Comfort comes down to ergonomics and attention to the smallest details; even a small flaw in the layout can create real inconvenience in daily use. That's why this work needs specialists who understand ergonomics and space planning, not just floor plan software. A genuinely good layout does more than improve comfort and quality of life - it uses space more efficiently and economically, so you're not paying for expensive square footage that a poorly thought-out layout wastes.

Stage Two: Concept

Once the layout is finalized, we develop your individual style - the thing that makes your home feel like yours, that you'll look at every day, and that should bring genuine aesthetic pleasure rather than quietly irritate you with inconsistent forms and color choices. The designer's taste and the quality of execution at this stage genuinely affect your mood and wellbeing over time. This isn't a task to hand to just anyone - it takes a professional with real, demonstrated design sense.

Q&A

How long does an interior design project take?

A typical residential interior design project takes 2-4 months from brief to final documentation. This includes the concept phase (2-3 weeks), design development (3-4 weeks), working drawings (3-5 weeks), and procurement coordination. Construction and finishing are separate and depend on scope.

What is included in the interior design package?

Our interior design package includes a detailed brief, space planning, concept development, 3D visualizations, material and finish specifications, furniture layouts, lighting design, working drawings for contractors, and procurement support. We work full-cycle — from the first conversation to the final installation.

Do you work with clients remotely, outside Seattle?

Yes. We work with clients across the US and internationally. All consultations, presentations, and approvals can be conducted remotely via video call. We use high-quality 3D visualizations and virtual walkthroughs so you can experience the space before anything is built.

What styles do you specialize in?

We do not limit ourselves to one style. Our portfolio includes minimalist, contemporary, Scandinavian, and transitional interiors. What unites them is precision, material quality, and coherence — every detail serves the overall concept. We design around your lifestyle, not around trends.

How much does interior design cost?

Our interior design services start from $10/sq ft for the design package. The final cost depends on the scope, square footage, and complexity of the project. Procurement, furniture selection, and author supervision are priced separately. We provide a detailed proposal after the initial consultation.

Do you help with furniture and material selection?

Yes. Material and furniture selection is a core part of our process. We specify finishes, fixtures, furniture, lighting, and accessories — all aligned with the approved concept. We have partner relationships with suppliers and can often secure better pricing than retail.

Can you redesign only one room, or do you require a full apartment?

We work with both. Single-room projects — kitchen, master bedroom, living room — are welcome. For partial renovations, we make sure the redesigned space integrates naturally with the rest of the home. We will tell you honestly if the scope is too limited to achieve the result you are looking for.

What is a 3D visualization and do I need it?

A 3D visualization is a photorealistic render of your future interior — before any construction begins. It shows you exactly how the space will look: materials, lighting, furniture, proportions. It is not optional for us — it is how we make sure you and we are aligned before any money is spent on construction.

Do you provide drawings for contractors?

Yes. We produce a full set of working drawings: floor plans, ceiling plans, lighting layouts, electrical schemes, plumbing layouts, wall elevations, and custom millwork details. These are construction-ready documents that any qualified contractor can work from.

Can you supervise the construction and renovation process?

Yes. Author supervision is available as an add-on service. Our designer visits the site regularly to verify that construction matches the approved design, approves material samples, resolves contractor questions, and ensures the result matches what you saw in the visualizations.

What information do you need to start a project?

To start, we need the floor plan (or measurements), photos of the existing space, your budget range, and a brief about your lifestyle and preferences. If you do not have a floor plan, we can arrange a site measurement visit. The more context you share, the better the result.

How is DeZZign different from other interior design studios?

Three things set us apart. First, our European design background — we bring a level of spatial thinking and material culture that is rare in the US market. Second, our integrated approach — architecture, interior, and construction supervision under one roof. Third, our founder personally understands construction, which means we design things that can actually be built — on budget and on time.
