Careers

We look for people who think in space, light and detail, and want to see what they draw get built.

DeZZign is an architecture and interior design bureau in Seattle and Kharkiv. For 8 years architecture, interiors and construction have stayed in one team here, so a line on a sheet becomes a wall, a lamp or a joint in a real room. We hire remotely across Ukraine.

What working here is like

  • From the first sketch to the site

Concept, planning, working drawings, visuals, materials and supervision stay in one team. You do not hand your work over and lose sight of it: you follow it to the finished room.

  • Drawings the trades build from

We draw full working sets: for a 118 m² apartment ours runs to 68 A3 sheets. Here you learn why every sheet is there and what it saves on site.

  • Three markets, three sets of rules

Homes and remodels in Seattle, Bellevue and Kirkland; houses and apartments in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv; villas and residences for clients in the UAE and Europe. Different climates, codes and clients, one standard of work.

  • A real range of projects

Private residences, apartments, offices, medical clinics and historic entrance groups. Among them the copper-clad Copper Hall office building, the 487 m² Asket-House near Kyiv and the House for Cosmopolitan in Kharkiv.

  • Every set is reviewed

A lead looks through your drawings before they leave the studio. It is the fastest way to grow, and the reason our sets hold up on site.

  • Room to grow

Designers grow into lead designers. Students start with three months of practice next to us, and the strongest of them get an offer to stay.

How a project moves through the studio

The path every interior takes here, and the work you will share with the team.

  1. 01

    Survey and brief

Measured plans, a photo survey of what exists, the client's brief and budget.

  2. 02

    Concept and planning

Layout options, zoning and furniture plans, the direction for materials and light.

  3. 03

    Visuals

3D views with real materials, real light and products that can actually be bought.

  4. 04

    Working drawings

Demolition and construction plans, electrical and lighting, ceilings, floors, tiles, joinery, elevations.

  5. 05

    Specification

Materials, furniture, lighting and sanitaryware with quantities and suppliers.

  6. 06

    Supervision

Site questions answered and visits made, so the decisions taken on paper stay true on site.

Who we hope to meet

  • You think in space and light, not in pictures of rooms.
  • You care how a joint is made and where a socket goes.
  • You can tell built work from a concept, and say which part was yours.
  • You stay calm with clients and contractors and keep your deadlines.
  • You take a review as help and redo a sheet when it needs it.

How we hire

  1. 1

    Portfolio

We look at every portfolio and reply within 10 working days.

  2. 2

    Conversation

An online interview of about 45 minutes about your projects and how you work.

  3. 3

    Task

A short task on a real brief, no longer than one working day.

  4. 4

    Meeting

A final meeting with the founder.

For the practice the path is shorter: a 30-minute talk and a task of half a day.

Questions

Can I work remotely?

Yes. Our open positions are remote, for people based in Ukraine.

What should my portfolio show?

Projects you are proud of. Mark which ones are built and which stayed concepts, and name your part in team work. A link is enough: Behance, or a PDF on Google Drive or Dropbox open to anyone with the link.

Which software do you work in?

We draw and count quantities in ArchiCAD. Revit or AutoCAD is fine if you are ready to switch. For visuals, any tool you are fast in: 3ds Max with Corona or V-Ray, or similar, plus Photoshop.

I am a student. Can I apply?

Yes, for the practice: three months on real projects with a mentor who reviews your work every week. Student work is fine for the portfolio.

My role is not listed. Should I write?

Yes. Send an open application below: we keep every portfolio and write when a role fits.

What about conditions and pay?

We discuss conditions, schedule and pay at the interview.
