For a collector the garage is a gallery, a workshop and a room to spend time in, not a place to leave the car. We design large residential garages, car galleries, collector garages with a lounge and showrooms for classic cars and motorcycles in Seattle, Bellevue and Kirkland, as part of a house or as a separate building.

The ground floor hall of Copper Hall works as a showroom for classic cars, an exhibition space and a conference venue, with a vintage motorcycle shown in the hall among the furniture. In our houses, such as Mansion for the Leader, the garage is designed with the architecture of the house rather than added to it.

Q&A

How much space does a collector garage need per car?

Much more than a parking space: enough to walk around the car, open every door and work on it. We size it for your cars.

Can you design a garage with car lifts?

Yes. Lifts need ceiling height or a pit, structure and power; we plan them from the start.

What floor is best for a garage?

Polished concrete, porcelain tiles or a resin coating, with a drain and a slight fall for cleaning.

Can the garage be seen from the house?

Yes. A glass wall to a lounge, office or living room is one of the most requested features, with fire separation as the code requires.

Do you design separate garage buildings?

Yes, as a standalone building on the site, designed in the same architectural language as the house.

Do you plan EV charging?

Yes, a charger or at least power for one at every bay.

  • Collector garage - space for several cars with room to walk around each one and open every door.
  • Car gallery with a lounge - a room with a view of the cars, often behind a glass wall.
  • Garage with lifts - car lifts that double the number of cars or bring them to a lower level.
  • Workshop and detailing bay - a place to work on the cars, with water, power and storage.
  • Motorcycle display - bikes shown as objects in the house or in the hall.

Space Around Every Car

A collector garage needs much more than a parking space per car: room to walk around, open doors fully and work on the car. We plan the bays, turning space and the door positions together with the driveway, and check ceiling height early, because car lifts need a tall space or a pit.

Floors, Light and Climate

Floors must take oil, tires and cleaning: polished concrete, porcelain tiles or a resin coating with a drain and a slight fall. Lighting is even, glare-free and high in color rendering, so paint looks true from every angle. Collector cars keep best in a dry, stable climate, so we plan heating, dehumidification and ventilation, which in the Pacific Northwest is as important as the look.

Charging, Safety and Security

We plan EV charging for every bay, mechanical ventilation and CO detection, and the fire separation between the garage and the house that the code requires. Cameras, alarm and access control are designed with the architecture instead of being added later.

The Garage as a Room

A glass wall between the garage and a lounge or office, a bar, display lighting, art and a place to sit turn the garage into one of the best rooms of the house. In Copper Hall the same hall that shows cars becomes a dining room or a bar.

How We Work

We start with the collection, the cars you plan to add and how you use them, then design the garage with the house or as a separate building: layout, sections with lifts, lighting, systems and finishes, with drawings prepared to local code and signed by licensed professionals we work with.
