A retail point has a few square meters to stop people, show the product, take payment and store the stock, often open on every side and closed with a lock at night. We design mall kiosks and islands, small shops, coffee and food points, pop-up stores and branded counters inside other businesses in Seattle, Bellevue and beyond, and adapt one design for a chain of locations.

At the entrance of the Trichology Clinic a display cabinet of care products works as a compact retail point within the clinic,, with artificial stone on the lower level and copper details. For the Trichology Institute we developed custom furniture and a glazed display window with the manufacturer SV Group.

Q&A

How small can a retail point be?

A few square meters is enough when display, counter and storage are designed as one unit.

Can the design be repeated in other malls?

Yes. We design modular fixtures and a guide so the point can be built the same way in different locations.

Do you prepare drawings for manufacturing?

Yes, for every fixture, so a furniture maker can price and build it.

Do you work with mall requirements?

Yes. We design within the landlord's criteria and prepare the package for approval.

Can a retail point sit inside a clinic or salon?

Yes, like the product cabinet at the entrance of the Trichology Clinic.

How long does the design take?

Usually two to five weeks for one point, longer for a chain kit.

  • Mall kiosk and island - a freestanding unit open to the mall on every side.
  • Small shop and counter - a shop of a few square meters or a counter in a gallery or station.
  • Coffee and food point - equipment, water, power and queue space in a tight footprint.
  • Pop-up and seasonal point - demountable fixtures that are built off-site and installed overnight.
  • Branded point in another business - a shelf, counter or display in a clinic, salon, hotel or office.

Every Side Is a Front

An island is seen from all directions, so it has no back. We design low displays at the edges and taller elements in the middle to keep sightlines across the mall, a counter where staff can see every side, and a clear place for the queue so it does not block the walkway.

Storage Inside the Footprint

Stock, bags, a safe and the staff's personal things all need a place inside the unit. We build storage into the base of the counters and displays, plan cable routes for payment terminals and screens, and make the whole unit lockable at night with shutters or covers that are part of the design.

Mall Rules and Services

Malls set their own design criteria: maximum heights, sightline rules, materials, signage and fire safety. Power and data often come from the floor, and water for coffee points needs a solution approved by the landlord. We design within these rules and prepare the drawings for the landlord's review.

One Design, Many Locations

A chain needs a point that can be built the same way in different malls. We design modular fixtures, a kit of parts for different footprints and a short guide with dimensions, materials and lighting, so the brand looks the same in every location.

How We Work

We start with the product, the sales process and the locations, then develop the layout, a concept with renderings and manufacturing drawings for every fixture. For full stores see retail store and showroom design and for premium formats boutique design.
