Yes, though output varies seasonally - western and mountain regions with more sun exposure and less industrial haze generally perform well, and panels remain effective even on cold, clear winter days since output depends on light intensity rather than heat.
Are solar panels worth it for a vacation or seasonal property? Often more so than for a full-time residence, particularly in areas with unreliable grid infrastructure - a property that sits empty for stretches of the year benefits from a power source that doesn't depend on grid continuity.
Do solar panels affect the architectural design of a house? They should be considered from the design stage rather than added afterward - roof orientation, pitch, and visible mounting all affect both energy output and the building's overall visual composition.

Everything seems fabulous and cool, but there are some factors influencing these indicators, which we want to talk about below, namely:
- battery maintenance (such a system requires cleaning, washing several times a season, since dust, bird droppings affect the efficiency of the panel
- location. Location matters. It is very important to consider that the shadow of trees and neighboring buildings “eats” your clean energy, because the longer the panel is in the sun, the more efficiently you are supplied with clean energy
- insolation of your region. What it is? Insolation - the amount of solar radiation per m2 over a certain period of time. Therefore, it is very important to know the map of your region in order to choose the right type of panel. From this we obtain the following factor
- Coverage area. To understand, you need to consider only 2 parameters: insolation and your estimated energy consumption. Let's roughly calculate for example. To do this, just look at your electricity bill. A normal average home uses about 900 kWh per month, or about 30 kWh per day. Multiply this number by 0.25. We get 7.5, so we need a 7.5 kW system. The middle panel generates up to 120 watts, or 0.12 kW per day. To provide 7.5 kW, you need to purchase 61-63 panels. One panel can be approximately 140 by 70 centimeters, so 60 panels will occupy approximately 64 m2 of your area
- from the previous factor we get the following - EXPENSES. From the preliminary calculation, the cost for an average house is 20-30 thousand dollars. This gives rise to the idea that it is possible, and energy needs to be saved and I don’t need so much and, as a result, a combined system.
- disposal and maintenance. Solar panels work 40-50 years without problems, the system for them from batteries and controllers from 5 to 20 years, which means the system must be regularly maintained and continue to invest in it.
