Here's a look at the software our designers and architects actually work in, and why. In short, practical terms: what ArchiCAD does, and how it helps us build distinctive interiors and architecture.
Reason #1. Fast Layouts
Working from the basic elements of any room - walls, windows, doors, furniture, fixtures - the software lets us rapidly develop several different layout options. Because everything is modeled as a real, parametric object rather than a flat 2D drawing, moving a wall or resizing a window updates every related view automatically, which means we can put three or four genuinely different spatial concepts in front of a client in the time it used to take to draft just one.
Reason #2. A Rich Library
Instead of spending time hunting for elements across different resources, a designer can draw straight from ArchiCAD's built-in standards - customizing them for the project or downloading whatever's missing. The library covers everything from doors and windows to furniture, fixtures, and structural elements, and most manufacturers now publish ArchiCAD-ready objects for their own product lines, so a specified door handle or light fixture can often be dropped directly into the model at true scale.
Reason #3. Live 3D-to-Drawing Sync
Plan and 3D work can happen in sync. ArchiCAD lets you make changes across different project formats simultaneously - move a wall in the 3D view and the plan, sections, and elevations update at the same time, rather than requiring separate manual edits in each drawing. That single-source-of-truth model is what actually prevents the kind of drawing-to-drawing inconsistency that causes real problems on site.
Reason #4. Flexible Plan Views
Among its many tools, "Layer Combinations" lets us build multiple distinct plans from the same base drawing - a flooring plan, a ceiling plan, a lighting plan, or others. It's a genuine time-saver, letting us quickly get oriented on a project and make decisions about changes, since we're never redrawing the same walls and openings from scratch for each new type of plan a contractor needs.
Reason #5. Fast Elevations
ArchiCAD's real strength is how tightly the model stays linked to every projection. Build out a detailed model, and you can trust that plans and elevations won't need manual patching later - a wall detail added in one view appears correctly, at the right scale and position, everywhere else that wall is shown.
Reason #6. Automatic Material Takeoffs
Accurate calculation matters enormously in interior design. When we're designing apartments in Kharkiv or elsewhere, we take this step seriously - and tools like this are indispensable for it. ArchiCAD calculates everything we need: area, volume, tile quantities, baseboard length - numbers that used to require manual measurement and were a common source of costly ordering mistakes.
Reason #7. Rendering Controls
The output from ArchiCAD is genuinely photorealistic 3D. Material textures and furniture in the model look exactly as they will in the finished space - close to a full visualization. That level of detail is a real help for contractors installing elements and manufacturers building custom furniture, since they're working from an image that already shows the intended result rather than interpreting a flat technical drawing.

A designer doesn't lose time manually assembling working drawings and other documentation - ArchiCAD updates every projection automatically as changes happen.
