Our European background gives us deep roots in Passive House methodology. We have worked with the standard since its early adoption in Europe and understand both the technical requirements and the design opportunities it creates. A Passive House is not a compromise — it is a higher-performance version of exceptional architecture.
Seattle's climate is well-suited to Passive House design. The combination of high-performance insulation, airtight construction, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) keeps homes warm and dry year-round with minimal energy input. The same system provides passive cooling during Seattle's increasingly warm summers — without air conditioning.
We use PHPP energy modeling software to simulate building performance before construction begins, verifying that every design decision contributes to the certified performance target. Our designs are developed in close collaboration with PHIUS-certified consultants and structural engineers experienced in Passive House construction detailing.

Q&A
How much more does a Passive House cost compared to a conventional home?
A Passive House typically costs 5-15% more upfront than a conventional home of similar size and quality. However, energy savings of 60-80% on heating and cooling costs mean the investment pays back within 7-12 years — while delivering superior comfort, air quality, and resilience throughout.
Is Passive House suitable for Seattle's climate?
Absolutely. Seattle's mild, rainy climate is well-suited to Passive House design. The combination of high insulation, airtight construction, and heat recovery ventilation keeps homes warm and dry year-round with minimal energy input — and the same system provides passive cooling during Seattle's increasingly warm summers.
Can an existing home be renovated to Passive House standard?
Yes — this is called EnerPHit, the Passive House standard for retrofits. We assess your existing home, develop a phased retrofit plan, and can achieve near-Passive House performance through targeted improvements to the building envelope, windows, and ventilation systems.
Do you work with Passive House certified consultants?
Yes. We collaborate with PHIUS-certified consultants and use PHPP energy modeling software on all Passive House projects. We manage the certification process from design through blower door testing to final certification documentation.
