Amazing park in Norway where you can watch wild deer
The architects of the Snøhetta bureau designed the Tverrfjellhytta pavilion and made a real gift to all Norwegians - now in Dovrefjell Park you can watch rare wild animals without disturbing their peace and natural habitat.
The pavilion was located in a picturesque corner of the park, at a height of 1200 meters above sea level. "Tverrfjellhytta" belongs to the Wild Deer Center and is the observation point of the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Foundation program and educational programs. To get to the pavilion, you need to walk more than a kilometer through the entire Dovrefjell National Park.
The park is home to many animals that are difficult to see anywhere else. For example, reindeer and musk ox live in Dovrefjel - you cannot find such animals in other habitats. The place where the park is located especially for any Norwegian: Mount Snøhetta is shrouded in various myths and incredibly beautiful fairy tales, great historical events took place there.
Steel, wood and glass were mainly used in construction. These materials are often found in Norwegian architecture. The idea of the architects was not to distinguish the building from the surroundings, as an example, its rust color harmoniously fits into the environment. The construction is made with large panoramic multiplex windows, which allows you to see the park and mountains around. The most important part of the pavilion is its wooden frame. The architects from Snøhetta were assisted by shipbuilders who work on the western riviera of Norway. They recreated the wooden parts according to the 3D models sent by the architects. It is also worthy of note that the builders subsequently fastened the parts only with staples, without using additional materials such as nails or glue.
The building is built in the shape of a rock or glacier, which has been changed due to strong winds and water around it. The architects took care of the cosiness and installed fireplaces and benches inside, on which tourists like to relax, enjoying the beauty around. Given the harsh climate of Norway, the priority was to build a pavilion that would be able to withstand strong winds. That is why such durable materials were chosen.
