Indoor plants for a stylish interior

Indoor plants for a stylish interior

All the most popular bloggers on the Internet have been competing with the variety of their indoor plants for several years. Flowers in pots dilute the interior design of all trendsetters. Various ficuses, exotic palms, small succulents - these are only the most famous of them, but in the photo on Pinterest you can see plants with very unusual names - you definitely noticed them in the most beautiful interiors.

If you already have plants, we advise you to examine them carefully. It may be worth changing their pots, then their appearance will change slightly, a transformation for the better will take place.

It is best to choose pots to match your interior. Popular now are gray concrete planters, cylinders or cubes made of non-ferrous metals. If you are an adherent of the classics, then choose terracotta pots, and if you want to add a summer mood, straw or sesame baskets are a good option. Ceramic pots are the most dangerous option for a smart and stylish interior. When choosing, you need to pay attention to various factors: texture, color, size. If you don't guess one of these characteristics, then you risk ruining the entire interior.

You can also make a decorative vase for indoor plants yourself, such things are very much appreciated, because DIY has already turned into a whole subculture. In pursuit of originality, people themselves create decorative elements. You can use whatever you want: glass jars, beautiful mugs, craft bags (you can hide old pots in them), etc.

Now that you have chosen the right planter, you need to arrange the plants so that they look organic in your room and really complement the design.

If you are lucky and you have enough space, a large room, then you can choose pompous, large plants without fear. First you need to choose the center flower that will set the style. We recommend taking a closer look at plants with large leaves: ficus, palm, monstera.

All subsequent indoor plants should be chosen in a color scheme similar to your “main” plant. Indoor plants that do not bloom are a win-win - they will definitely fit into your interior.

Let's dwell on plants for a large space.

Monstera

It is a large, luxurious plant that can grow up to 2 meters in length. Monstera is a fast-growing vine with large, laced leaves. It is worth noting that due to the size of the vine, it needs to be maintained. You can purchase regular bamboo poles from a specialty store, or use a metal mesh that will also look interesting in your interior.

You can place a monster in both the light and semi-dark parts of the room. However, remember that if there is very little light, the plant will remain without cuts, thanks to which it is so famous among people of art.

Ficus

There are many subspecies of ficus, but we recommend those with large leaves. As an option - elastic ficus or rubber tree. A plant that has smooth leaves, almost black in color, will be a great addition to the interior. And thanks to the ease of care, you will not get tired of watering it: twice a week in summer is enough, in winter no more than once a week. Spray ficus with water once a month. That's all, the ficus does not need any additional care.

A ficus of this species will look good in a setting with a combination of metal and glass. If you need to add coziness to the interior, take the form of Doecheri or Variegat ficus and place it in a well-lit place, then the leaves of the plant will remain patterned.

Palm

Among the species of this plant, it is worth studying hovea or hamedorea. They can grow up to 2 meters in height, but unlike monstera they grow very slowly. Caring for palms is a little more difficult than the plants that have already been named. For example, hovea does not like to be in direct sunlight, needs humidified air and constant spraying with water.

Another important tip: to keep the space from looking overwhelmed, buy palm trees with large carved leaves. You can buy several palms of different sizes, for example, one tall, medium-sized and slightly smaller. Thanks to this, you get a solid composition that will decorate the space. Remember, palms with a thick trunk (for example, a date) set the tone for the whole room and will look ridiculous in modern interiors. If you want to add a little ecotics to your warm interior, don't hesitate and choose a classic palm tree!

In the event that your space is small, pay attention to the solid appearance of the plant. It must be remembered that you will interact with the flower constantly, the poet should suit you with everything: drawing of leaves, a pot, the color of a plant.

Remember that choosing extremely small or only large plants in a room with a small area will be a fatal mistake. In the first case, you will not place accents, but only clutter up the space. In the second case, the plants will take up too much space and will seem unnecessary in your interior, making it heavy. The best option would be to purchase plants that grow tall. For example, we can offer such options: narrow cacti, sansevieria, compact ampelous plants, etc. Thanks to these plants, you will get an interesting picture and make your room green without weighing down the interior.

Sansevieria

The plant is easy to care for and has many types, which allows you to choose what is right for your interior. There are sanservieria with narrow long leaves or in the form of small rosettes. In a small room, we recommend the first option, high views (three-lane sansevieria or laurenti sansevieria).

This plant can be placed both in a well-lit room and in a dark one. The lighter the place where the sansevieria stands, the brighter its leaves, so the choice is yours. You can put the flower on a stool - then it will "line up" the room vertically, which will also produce an interesting effect.

Euphorbia

Euphorbia - this is the name that everyone remembers from childhood. Its beautiful shape and height reaching 2 meters makes it a favorite for spaces with limited space. He does not like high humidity and frequent watering, euphorbia loves sunlight.

Euphorbia exist perfectly in an ensemble with other plants of the cactus species, but in itself it looks great in modern interiors.

Ceropegia woody

Very beautiful indoor flowers, ceropegia has leaves in the form of small hearts on thin stems, grayish-green in the upper side and pink-lilac below. You can put the plant on a shelf and watch how quickly it grows.

For the plant to retain its delicate colors, it needs enough light. However, in summer it is better to protect the flower from bright sunlight. Ceropegia is unpretentious in care: you need to water it as soon as the top layer of earth in a decorative vase dries up, in winter it is necessary to keep the soil practically dry.

Peperomium pilea

This plant has flawlessly round leaves. In a space with a small area, it will look like an unusual accent. The plant behaves well both in the sun and in a dark room (with a little light, its leaves grow better). It is important not to place the plant where the sun can get on it: the leaves can burn and turn pale. The best option for Peperomian Pylaea would be a clean room (up to 16-18 degrees) with high humidity.

When the time comes, the saw should be pruned to form a rounded bush. Otherwise, the plant will lose its decorative appearance.

If you decide to decorate your workplace, we advise you to opt for small, compact plants. They will look harmonious on the table and will not distract from your activities. It's important to choose a pot that won't leak - you don't want to flood your work notes or your computer.

The best option would be small succulents that don't need to be watered often. Depending on where your table is: by the window or further, and plants should be chosen.

Echeveria will suit you if the table is well lit by sunlight. The plant resembles a rose in shape and has a large number of colors: rich green, pink, gray with a pearl tint. Remember, the more expressive the color of the succulent, the more light it needs. You can place this plant in a neat florarium or in a concrete planter - both options are great for Echeveria.

If you are looking for the most unpretentious flower, then havoria is perfect for you. It does not need a lot of light and water, it stays dark green with an interesting white convex pattern for a very long time. Among the havoria there is an unusual species - havoria navicular - on the tips of the leaves of such a flower there are transparent “windows”.

Crassula is also known as the money tree, hence the workplace is the best option for such a flower. Crassula looks like a small tree, the plant is easy to care for. If you want something more unusual, you can choose the type of Hobbit, with twisted leaves. This form gave her another name - "Shrek ears".
